Fanny Calder (née Lister) was instrumental in securing the empty Blue Coat School building as a home for the Sandon Studios Society artists. An accomplished artist, her energies however went into developing the Society into a vital cultural and social group for Liverpool. Anning Bell was her art school tutor and the original oil on panel painting is in a private collection.
